Hello CloudCamp!

The unconference for Cloud Computing early adopters, CloudCamp is reaching Toronto (again)!
This opportunity to exchange ideas, knowledge and information in a creative and supporting environment, advancing the current state of cloud computing and related technologies, will take place next Tuesday, Oct. 26 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

CloudCamp

Since the first CloudCamp held June 24, 2008 in San Francisco, California, there have been over 120 events yet all over the major cities in the world. So far, the events took place on an
ad-hoc basis all over Australia, Asia, India, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas.

As the CloudCamp Facilitator for Europe and Iberoamérica (Yosu Cadilla) announced me, the good news is that CloudCamp is soon to reach Romania too, starting with Bucharest. Godspeed!

CC4D - Cloud Computing for Developers

King Cloud

This October, IBM developerWorks organizes Cloud computing for developers: a 2-day virtual event packed with free Cloud Computing Webinars focused on helping developers, architects, students and others learn how to solve business and technical challenges in the cloud.

Even if all event presentations and playback will also be available after the event, there's one specific webinar that caught my attention: Database design for multi-tenancy and resiliency.
On Oct 13th, 2:30pm - 3:30pm EST, Raul Chong will discuss about Amazon's and DB2's offerings/features for Software as a Service (SaaS) vendors who use multi-tenancy to reduce costs. I'm looking forward to finding out more about DB2's High availability disaster recovery (HADR) feature as part of the resiliency section, and to get some experience on setting it up using Rightscale.

What I know, I'm sharing. What I don't, I'm learning!

Hello and welcome to Unfolding Code, I'm Marius and I always liked fresh starts!

As a final year Master student at the "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University of Iaşi, Romania, I currently took a break from focusing exclusively on Software Engineering for an internship with the IBM Toronto Software Lab, in Canada. I have to confess, it's impossible to be around great minds and not to feel an abundance of learning opportunities, so I feel it is the moment to share the knowledge.

Backed by a passion for Web development, you'll soon find here a strong focus on
  • RESTful Web Services,
  • developing for mobile devices,
  • programming Ruby,
  • learning about Rails,
  • making good use of cloud computing,
  • and discovering what makes DB2 great.

Along the way, I’ll try to make this blog a touch more interesting to read than your camera’s user manual, so your feedback is more than welcome. You can start by bookmarking this blog, emailing it to a friend/colleague or subscribing to this RSS feed, and let the learning begin!

Until next time friends...
Marius
